Once upon a time....
Isn't that how all fairy tales begin? Well, this blog is the story of our fairy tale. We're hoping it has a happy ending, but this fairy tale project is a work in progress, in real time. You see, my partner, Travis, and I are attempting to complete our family with the addition of one (or more) human children. I say "human" children, because we already have three canine kids. Yes, dogs, but we love them so much they are our practically our children, just the furry, panting, wet-nosed kind. But I digress. My name is Ben and that makes Travis and me a gay couple. We've been together for 15 years and live in Dallas, TX. Being a gay couple, we're unable to conceive naturally the old-fashioned way. That brings us to the purpose of this blog and where we are today, which is pursuing surrogacy in India.
"Wait a sec, India?" Yes, India--that country of a billion people across the oceans and halfway around the world; the land of contrasts, from Gandhi to Slumdog Millionaire, from divine temples permeated with centuries of history and spirtuality, to abject heart-breaking poverty; where your senses are overwhelmed by spices lighting up your palate, pollution and heat choking the air, traffic horns blaring their cacophany of song, and sights that uplift your soul and humble you at the same time; one of the cradles of civilization, somewhere over the rainbow, a beautiful and generous Indian woman will hopefully make our dreams of parenthood come true.
For now, I will leave this post with just the Introduction to this story. More chapters to follow.
Good luck guys.
